Analysis Of Posters

These three pictures are my analysis of the three posters that match the  Digipaks that I have analysed. I have found something which they all have in common with the Digipaks, they all use the same image as the album covers and they are all fairly minimalistic and this is the sort of look that I will want my Digipak and poster to have, I want them to connote with each other because I feel that the consistency of having the same image and text font is key for the audience to remember and recognise the album, poster and the band as a whole.

Cameras and Filming Styles

As a group, we looked into the types of cameras and filming styles that would be used whilst creating our music video. Initially, we thought that we'd try and use an old styled camera to try and get a darker and grittier feel to the video. Our final decision is that we're going to film with a 1080p High-Definition camera and convert the footage into black and white when its comes to the editing process as the video quality will look better in the final cut and we have the option to revert to different resolution qualities if we wanted to.

Filming the music video directly in black and white was also an option that we considered as we are trying to create a similar style to the Chasing Status Control video black and white color schemes. This is because the story running along with the video is one of horror and violence so having a darker filming style would set an overall scarier and suspenseful theme throughout

Filming Location - Yellow Bean Studios

Click to go to the Yellow Bean Studios Website

After looking over a number of locations which we could film in we stumbled across a Photography Studio called Yellow Bean Studios. It has a large 26x15ft white room which we could record our performance shots in. Currently, we are in negotiations with the studio on available dates, times and prices that we could book for filming. Additionally, the studio also provides equipment for us to rent, which would save us both time and money.  Also, our filming process would benefit from a completely white room - which includes white flooring. this will make a the room look larger than it actually is. This is something we discussed initially and felt that the use of in the preliminary music video when we used the school's studio could have benefited from.

The reason we are looking to book a studio is to gain a much larger space than is available at school. Booking the studio in appose to using the school's also means that we aren't reliant on our teachers to let us in and the studio not being used already. The large studio also allows us to film in a more flexible and less confined situations - like our Preliminary Music Video. It will also help to implement certain lighting and shot techniques that we are taking inspiration from.

Real Lion Inspiration

After looking at the mythical lions, it made think of  'Aslan' from The Chronicles Of Narnia. His look is similar to the lion in Hercules but he is obviously a protagonist, but as he looks like a normal male lion (except the fact that he is much bigger than real lions) it took me to thinking about a normal, realistic lion, but I wanted to concentrate on the face of the lion more. I looked also at the whole body of the lion, but the face caught my eye the most due to a male lions face looking very intimidating so I felt I had to look at pictures of 'Aslan' and of real life lions to see if they would suit my Digipak and magazine advert and after assessing them properly, I felt like the lion face suited my Digipak and magazine poster the most.

I also looked at the MGM lion, which I think is very eye catching, again due to its intimidating appearance.

Mad Villain - CD Inspiration

This CD cover was shown to us by our media teacher Mr Ford. I really liked the simplicity of the design and the colour scheme. As well as the positioning of the main image, and it also links to our idea of having a masked/hooded character in the video which is what I decided I will implement into my design.

Filming update:

We haven't started filming as of yet but we have already planned when the filming process will begin. We will aim to start on the 8th and 9th of October and film some parts of the song in the Yellow Bean Studios. We are filming parts of the music video in the studios and other parts we will film in a forest.  We feel this is a good time to start filming so that we have a little extra time to sort props and costumes and equipment out.

Mythical Lion Inspiration

Looking at the Mythical creatures, I thought I would look at Greek mythical Lions and see if they looked good and if they could give me any inspiration.

Prodigy Album Cover Inspiration

This CD cover by Prodigy is the type of colour scheme I like myself, black white and grey. It is also linked to the punk genre and therefore will Suit our band Renegade. I like the sizing of the main image on this album cover having it in the centre of the page and of a medium size. This will be something I will implement into my digipak designs

The Labyrinth Story - Ideas and Inspiration

After researching about Mazes previously, I looked for ways in which the maze could link to our video. This is when I thought of the Labyrinth. The Labyrinth is a story from Greek mythology. was an elaborate structure designed and built by the legendary artificer Daedalus for King Minos of Crete at Knossos. Its function was to hold the Minotaur eventually killed by the hero Theseus.

Album Magazine Adverts and Ideas

Here are some pieces of album magazine adverts that we have found ideas and inspiration from when we are to create our own. They provide various degrees of photography and image manipulation and all have their own unique aspects that we felt suit the theme of both our band and our chosen song.
