Analysis Of Posters

These three pictures are my analysis of the three posters that match the  Digipaks that I have analysed. I have found something which they all have in common with the Digipaks, they all use the same image as the album covers and they are all fairly minimalistic and this is the sort of look that I will want my Digipak and poster to have, I want them to connote with each other because I feel that the consistency of having the same image and text font is key for the audience to remember and recognise the album, poster and the band as a whole.

Analysis Of Digipak.

Real Lion Inspiration

After looking at the mythical lions, it made think of  'Aslan' from The Chronicles Of Narnia. His look is similar to the lion in Hercules but he is obviously a protagonist, but as he looks like a normal male lion (except the fact that he is much bigger than real lions) it took me to thinking about a normal, realistic lion, but I wanted to concentrate on the face of the lion more. I looked also at the whole body of the lion, but the face caught my eye the most due to a male lions face looking very intimidating so I felt I had to look at pictures of 'Aslan' and of real life lions to see if they would suit my Digipak and magazine advert and after assessing them properly, I felt like the lion face suited my Digipak and magazine poster the most.

I also looked at the MGM lion, which I think is very eye catching, again due to its intimidating appearance.

Looking at the Mythical creatures, I thought I would look at Greek mythical Lions and see if they looked good and if they could give me any inspiration.

Album Magazine Adverts and Ideas

Here are some pieces of album magazine adverts that we have found ideas and inspiration from when we are to create our own. They provide various degrees of photography and image manipulation and all have their own unique aspects that we felt suit the theme of both our band and our chosen song. 

Mythical Creatures Inspiration.

After looking at the 'Beast' from Beauty And The Beast, an idea popped into my head that he reminds me of mythical creatures and I felt that I should start looking at mythical creatures and see what I can find and here are some images that caught my eye for me to take inspiration from.

Disney's 'Beauty And The Beast' (Beast)

After looking at the Hyenas from The Lion King,  wanted to stick with Disney movies to look at for inspiration and so I feel that Beauty And The Beast is a good film to look at considering the animals is has in it. I decided to look at the Beast because he is quite an aggressive animal / creature so I thought it would be interesting to start looking at images of him. If I end up having a beast on my Digipak and magazine advert, that would certainly catch people's eye because it would look quite interesting when people walk by it.

Disney's 'The Lion King' (Hyenas)

After seeing the Catfish And The Bottlemen album covers, I want to use that sort of style but I am going to start with new animals to look at seeing as the wolfs and werewolves didn't take me anywhere.
I have decided to start looking at hyenas because they are a vicious sort of animal and that is the type of animal that I want on my Digipak and magazine poster. I have looked at the hyenas from Disney's 'The Lion King' because I eel that, that is a good place to start looking at them.

Catfish And The Bottlemen Album Cover

this is the Catfish And The Bottlemen album cover and it is very simple, but at the same time it is very eye catching due to the image they have on the cover. it is a simple drawing of a crocodile in a white outline on a black background and I feel it is a really god over and I want to adopt this sort o style so I want to try and also use an animal on the front of my cover and magazine advert.

Nightcrawler Film Inspiration

This is the character of Lou Bloom. He is portrayed as a man of determination and is willing to do anything to succeed at what he does. He sees no wrong in the crimes that he commits. Here are a few clips:

Werewolf Inspiration - Rayan

These are pictures of werewolves for ideas or my Digipak and magazine advert, I thought about just having a wolf on my cover and magazine advert but then that gave me the idea o having a werewolf because I feel that they are more interesting and eye catching.

Music Video Inspiration Mood Board

This is a mood board that was created to present a number of influences for our band, song choice, music genre and the video we are to create. In terms of the video, our narrative and performance pieces are both portrayed including inter textual references from movies such 'American Psycho' and 'Nightcrawler' as well as the music video 'Time to Dance' by The Shoes.  Additionally, we have included aspects that will be portrayed in our performance shots of the video. This involves a huge influence on mise-en-scene from the original band 'Slaves'.  Influences for our performance aspects have been taken from the music videos 'Control' by Chase and Status and 'Song 2' by Blur.  We feel that all these ideas and inspirations will help us to create a more realistic and appropriate video for our chosen song. 

David Fincher - Inspiration and Ideas (Se7en, Zodiac, Gone Girl, Panic Room)

After looking at the Robert Graysmith Book 'Zodiac' is had a look at the movie adaptation as well as a number of David Fincher films. Movies by Director David Fincher have had a huge influence on our ideas and the feeling we want to portray in our video. The thriller feel and look of these poster portray our vision well, especially though their colour scheme.  Two of these films (Se7en and Zodiac) involve a mystery of a killer.
